what was wester berg like? what kind of character did he have?

Wayne Westerberg is the owner of a grain elevator in Carthage, South Dakota, who meets McCandless when he picks him up hitchhiking in 1990. He gives McCandless jobs multiple times, and becomes close to him. Wayne is a pragmatic man who likes Chris's sincerity and sense of adventure. He thought Chris was an "odd young man" but that he was also a man who wanted to really experience life.
