What was Chris's view of the government?

Since Chris was influenced by the writer Henry David Thoreau, the idea that Thoreau and his Civil Disobedience idea would suggest that Chris wanted less government and government interference. He wanted to be himself in the wild and wanted little to nothing to do with the government.
