what dose the woodsman foreshadow about hunting in the wild, and meat?

The spoiling of the meat when the flies lay their eggs. He tells Christopher that in no circumstances should the flies be able to crawl on the meat, but Christopher can't stop them. Before the meat has even been cooked there are maggots crawling everywhere. He couldn't eat the meat.
