Is going 'into the wild' noble and admirable or ridiculous and dangerous?

Going into the wild is only "noble" if you are prepared and know exactly how to handle yourself in the wilds. In any other context, going into the wild is a ridiculous proposition. Many native Alaskans felt Chris was disrespectful to nature and foolish for trying to survive as long as he did.
