Ammonia

A colorless gas with a characteristically pungent smell.

Binary

A numerical system that only uses two digits: 0 and 1. Computers use binary, meaning that they store data and preform calculations using zero and one.

Black hole

A region of space that has a gravitational field so intense that nothing can escape.

Blight

A plant disease, especially one caused by fungi such as mildews, rusts, and smuts.

Colonization

Moving from an established place to an unknown place.

Cyst

A thin-walled, hollow organ or cavity containing a liquid secretion.

Discretion

The quality of behaving or speaking in such a way as to avoid causing offense or revealing private information.

Interstellar

Astronomy: Taking place, or traveling among the stars

Lazarus

Foreshadowing in the film. From the Bible, Lazarus was a friend of Jesus Christ and the brother of Mary and Martha. He died but was brought to life again by Jesus.

Okra

A plant of the mallow family with long, ridged seedpods.

Paradox

A statement that, despite apparently sound reasoning from true premises, leads to a self-contradictory or logically unacceptable conclusion.

Physicist

A scientist who studies the interactions of matter and energy in the universe.

Plague

A contagious disease that spreads rapidly and kills many people.

Propaganda

Biased or misleading information that is distributed with the intent of publicizing a certain cause or point of view.

Quantum Physics

A specialized branch of physics that deals with energy, atoms, and photons.

Relativity

The dependence of various physical elements on relative motion of the observer.

Retro

Reminiscent of an earlier time; something that pays homage to something from the past

Terraforming

Transforming a planet to make it habitable and like Earth

Tesseract

A four-dimensional hypercube.

Wormhole

A hypothetical connection between widely separated regions of space-time.
