Why might the author include Chapter 19?

What information do we learn in this chapter? Does it advance plot of character development?

In my opinion, Chapter Nineteen is important because it speaks to appearances and reality. Saul is perceived as too young and small to play the game. Saul, however, is living proof that it is talent, not age or weight, that truly matter.
