Saul's drinking causes him to fall deeper into despair, isolating him from the rest of the world. Eventually, he has a stroke and ends up in the hospital, after which, he is advised to go the New Dawn Centre, the best place for Native alcoholics to get care. Saul is reluctant, but the doctor says the only other alternative is death.
