Saul is referring to the magic of hockey, He equates the energy of hockey with the stars and the night sky. There is universal order in the chaos if one follows the energy. Like his grandfather, Saul is a seer- he sees the energy of the world both in nature and in man: hockey is no different. The universe flows through hockey an Saul can see it.
