Saul’s grandmother, Naomi, spoke of a Creator, while his family and the nuns and priests at St. Jerome’s speak of God. Naomi’s teachings encouraged love and acceptance, while St. Jerome’s teachings and use of Christian faith also spout the same beliefs – yet they are wrongly used, instead, to justify the horrible actions of those who wield power over the children. What might this tell you about how people interpret and use their religious teachings in the choices they make in life?

People often see the world through the narrow vision of their religion. The Catholic priests and nuns refused to consider any other belief system. Anything but their belief system was savagery, perhaps even evil. I, think it isn't Catholicism that corrupted these nuns and priests entirely rather the absolute power they were given by the Canadian Government to wield over these kids. Absolute power corrupts.
