Saul has become lost or disenfranchised from both the white and the aboriginal world. I believe this is when he comes back from Toronto feeling defeated. He can't find his bearings and wants to just leave. After such high hopes for the NHL, he feels his dream shattered. He can't even find solace in his friends and adopted family.
