This is from a conversation between Virgil and Saul after the restaurant incident. The boys were beaten and urinated on. The Moose had beat another white team and white men in the cafe want to make the Moose pay. Saul and Virgil think this is because they are brown and Indian playing a white man's game: Hockey to these thugs is a white sport. This quote highlights the vicious racism held by some people in the white communities that the Moose play at, It is an example of racism in wider society that is always there, ready to boil over.
