Chapter One introduces the main character and narrator. Saul Indian Horse is an indigenous Canadian of the Ojibway tribe. He is in his thirties, and he is a recovering alcoholic, who has been admitted into a recovery center called the New Dawn Centre. Residents of the New Dawn Centre are encouraged to share their stories as part of recovery, and Saul's story is the basis of the memoir. Events, as remembered, are dependent upon the way Saul viewed and experienced them, thus, they are sujective rather than objective. The reliability of the story is dependent upon our feeling about Saul's memories.... during portions of his life he was under a lot of duress, at others, he suffered from alcohol addiction..... do you believe his portrayal of these time is accurate and reliable?
