At the beginning of the film, we see that Saul’s grandmother has a very different attitude towards non-indigenous culture than his parents did. What were some of the ways this was shown? Why do you think their attitudes were so different?

Grandmother, Naomi, believes that her people are a part of nature and the natural spirits around them. She, for example, wants a traditional healing burial for Benjamin. Mother insists on a Catholic burial. Mother has been influenced from her time spent in residential school.
