Indian Horse

As chapter 31 ends, Saul notes that white people think they own the game of Hockey, and the world for that matter. Has Canada changed since then? Or is it still owned by the white people who settled here in the 1800’s?

I think it has changed but there is still much more room to grow. The NHL now has more and more players representing diverse backgrounds. The minor leagues also reflect this diversity. Hockey culture, however, still holds the remnants of racism seen in Indian Horse. There are still too many examples of racism and intolerance on and off the ice. Things are changing though. Fans of hockey are more diverse and the league knows that inclusivity is essential both financially and ethically.
