The Mirabel sisters were all special. They were intelligent, determined and passionate. Their courageous acts have become legendary for women in the Dominican and the rest of the world. THey all resisted Trujillo in little ways which grew into big ways. Minerva's simple act of refusing Trujillo's sexual advances was in fact a great symbol of defiance. In the end the girls were raped, had their property seized and Trujillo killed 3 of the four sisters. Still he could not contain their acts of defiance which inspired a nation.
