In Cold Blood

What is the Tone of this book?

I have to write an essay discussing the tone with examples from the text but I am finding it difficult to figure out what the tone is.

There is a sombre tone throughout the book. There is a constant unsettling feeling as we find out about the murders and the murderers. Capote is not content to paint the murderers as simply evil. The complex relationship he has with them underscores this unsettling mood that the reader feels, it meshes with the sombre tone throughout.
