I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

In Maya Angelou's poem “Caged Bird” she provides a juxtaposition between that of a caged bird and of a bird who is free. The free bird represents people who live free of obstruction and prejudice. The caged bird is trapped. It represents being trapped by prejudice and oppression.
