(Chapter 7) How does David escape the stable?

David cut a hole in the stable wall over the course of a few nights, carefully replacing the boards in the morning and covering them with a bucket. Then he dug his way out through the snow, placing the snow in the animals troughs, so as not to be discovered. Eventually, David escaped through this hole, taking the farmer's dog with him.
