What did the main character want ? And what did they do to get what they want?

Ricky was placed with Aunt Bella and Uncle Hector (his foster family), who he came to love. When Aunt Bella died, the foster agency wanted to take Ricky away from Uncle Hector. Ricky wanted to stay with Uncle Hector, and Uncle Hector felt the same way. In order to do this, Ricky fakes his own suicide and runs into the forest, bringing Uncle Hector with him. Ricky, however, doesn;t get what he wants in the end because they are caught, and Uncle Hector is arrested.
