Rachel and Lucy are Esperanza's constant companions after she moves to Mango Street.
One memory....... they all pitch in and buy a bike together, and although they share its ownership, the first day they all rode it together at the same time.
One of the reasons Esperanza like the girls so much was because she believed them to be like her......
