How does Harriet interact with her parents in Chapter 7?

Harriet's father is warm when he returns home from work.... he jokes around a bit and then retires after a long day at work.

Harriet's mother returns later and tries to help Harriet with her homework. Her mother's love of math reminds her of something Ole Golly like to say. Harriet is filled with missing.
