After Bounderby marries Louisa, Mrs. Sparsit sees her master plan falling apart. She decides to destroy the marriage by contriving to catch Louisa in some kind of act of infidelity. At times Mrs. Sparsit is used for a little comic relief in an otherwise dark novel. Mrs. Sparsit pulling Mrs. Pegler, for example, makes for a little lightheartedness.
