Slackbridge is the dishonorable and deceitful leader of the labor movement: The United Aggregate Tribunal. He takes the legitimate concerns of the laborers and exploits them for his own power.

I find it interesting how Slackbridge is presented as a leader who speaks for the workers but actually manipulates them for his own influence.
