Happy Place Characters

Happy Place Character List

Harriet Kilpatrick

Harriet, or "Harry," is a hardworking surgical resident who tends to avoid confrontation to keep everyone happy. Her people-pleasing nature often leads her to suppress her true emotions. The story revolves around her emotional growth, as she learns to embrace her feelings and confront the complexities in her life, especially her unresolved relationship with Wyn.

Wyndham "Wyn" Connor

Wyn is Harriet’s former fiancé, a man with a relaxed and easygoing personality but a deep-seated sense of insecurity. He struggles with feelings of inadequacy compared to his family and friends. Despite his cheerful demeanor, Wyn harbors regret and unresolved emotions regarding his breakup with Harriet, which fuels much of the story’s tension.

Sabrina Armas

Sabrina is one of Harriet’s best friends and the glue that holds their friend group together. She is a meticulous planner and sentimental at heart, often going out of her way to preserve the bonds between her friends. Sabrina’s determination to recreate their “happy place” drives much of the group dynamic in the novel.

Cleo James

Cleo is Harriet’s other close friend, known for her honesty and strong-willed personality. An artist and environmental advocate, Cleo is not afraid to speak her mind, even if it causes discomfort. Her straightforward nature serves as a counterbalance to Harriet’s tendency to avoid conflict.

Kimberly "Kim" Carmichael

Kim is Cleo’s partner, whose playful and easygoing energy adds levity to the group. She is supportive and caring, often acting as a bridge when tensions arise among the friends. Her lightheartedness complements Cleo’s seriousness, creating a harmonious dynamic between them.

Parth Nayak

Parth is Sabrina’s fiancé and a steady presence in the friend group. His calm demeanor and pragmatic approach provide stability, particularly when emotions run high. Parth’s relationship with Sabrina highlights the themes of love and commitment woven throughout the novel.
