Hamlet certainly muses about and berates himself throughout the play. He struggles to identify himself as a man and as a son. He wants to exact vengeance for his father's death but is much more a thinker and philosopher. He wants to identify with his character foil, young Fortinbras, but his essence is much different. We can ask ourselves many of the same questions that Hamlet asks.
