to be or not to be

in act iii scene i, in hamlet's soliloquy, what does hamlet consider better: this world or the next, and why would a person choose to be?

Hamlet wonders if "self-slaughter" (suicide) might be a way out of his problems. Unfortunately Elizabethan's considered suicide a sin hence Hamlet might go to Hell. Hamlet chooses to take the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune" rather than running to troubles that might be worse in the afterlife. This is why he sticks around awhile longer!

thanks for your help!
