Claudius' intrest in Hamlet

Why does Claudius want to know what's bothering Hamlet in Act ii, scene ii?

I think that Claudius is simply on to Hamlet sooner than expected. He knows Hamlet is acting odd. He also knows that Hamlet is smart and doesn't particularly like him. Claudius wants to know if Hamlet might be a danger to him. Also, Claudius really wants his queen to be happy. Hamlet's melancholy and crazy talk is putting a damper on his new marriage.
