In Act 3 sc 4, Hamlet tells his mother that he is not in fact insane. He reiterates that she should repent her marriage to Claudius and tells her in particular to stay away from their shared bed for the night. After describing the importance of this abstinence in the most colorful terms, Hamlet reminds his mother that he is ordered to England. Here Hamlet treats his mother with being honest without riddles or ulterior motives. This is in contrast to his meeting with Ophelia, act 2 sc 1, where is manipulates Ophelia (by acting crazy) to further his revenge against his uncle.
