Who does Pip begin to confide in instead of Joe? Why does he do this?

I think Pip realizes that Joe is just basically a good man with no prevention. Joe neither wants nor asks for favours. Joe knows Pip's history and also knows Pip better than Pip knows himself. He passes no judgment and is down to earth.
