What does Pip mean by describing the three ladies and one gentleman at Miss Havisham’s as “toadies and humbugs”?

"Toadies and humbugs" would translate to parasites..... people who hang on waiting for an inheritance, namely, those who attend Miss Havisham's birthday party for no other reason than that they hope to end up in her will.
