The Odd Yet Explainable Friendship Between an Angel and a Demon 10th Grade

The phenomenon of opposites attracting, whether it be in a romantic relationship or in a platonic friendship, can be seen all throughout literature. These pairings, though, in the beginning often seen as odd and unlikely, prove to be perfect and beloved pairings by the end of the story. One such example is in the novel ‘Good Omens’ by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. The book deals with the coming of the Antichrist in a humorous and lovable way, with much of its charm coming from the relationship between the angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley. As the nature of their beings would suggest, the two are polar opposites, and yet they managed to form a strong bond throughout the millenniums they spent on earth.Though the probability of this was astronomical, when better examined, it becomes clear that it is the small similarities they share that enabled them to bond against all odds.

Though it took a long time for a true friendship to form between the two, the fact that neither of them were completely engrossed in the teachings of their own respective sides could be seen from the beginning.
