Gattaca

question on Gattaca

Just because we are able to do something does no mean we should. (See King David) Discuss with reference to Gattaca. Is the argument, I can, and I am permitted to as long as I do not physically harm someone, counter to human flourishing? Is Gattacca a flourishing society?

I can't say too much on King David. I would say Gattaca is more a dystopia. Genetically engineered humans did not translate to mental stability as we saw with the character of Eugene Morrow. There was a clinical antiseptic feel to this society rather than one with spirit and determination.
