Why was Firoozeh's father so eager to impress Mrs. Sandberg?

Firoozeh's father told the teacher that Firoozeh could speak English,

Since my mother and I did not speak English, the meeting consisted of a dialogue between my father and Mrs. Sandberg. My father carefully explained that I had attended a prestigious kindergarten where all the children were taught English.
