Frankenstein

Why is this statement so important?

In chapter 13 it says, "I now hasten to the more moving part of my story. I shall relate events that impressed me with feelings which, from what I had been, have made me what I am now." Why is this statement important?

The creature is a product of his environment. This statement is important because it illustrates how the monster had initially become a creature of isolation...... unloved, uncared for...... simply alone. It was in watching the cottagers that the creature learned about life..... about love..... and about the desire to be something more....... to be somewhere in which he could find love and acceptance.
