Why is the creature’s appearance significant? What “science” is Shelley discrediting? (Remember the word from the chapter w/the professors and how they were described???)

Despite being a gentle creature, his hideous appearance scares people away. They judge the creature only on his looks. Shelly believes that man has no business in the creation of life.
