Why does Mary Shelly use the number 2 repetitively in Frankenstein?

The number 2 is used over and over again in Mary Shelly's Frankenstein and I was curious if this repetitive nature of her writing symbolized something.

I have never heard of this distinction. I'll see if there is anything to it but I'm not sure I will find anything.
