Where did victor go to find relief from despair what did he see and do there?

Victor decides to go to the summit of Montanvert to look out and the view, hoping his spirits will be revived by the experience. While there, he notices something coming toward him, and quickly realizes that it is the monster. After threatening the monster to leave him alone (all to no avail), he accompanies him to the ice cave to talk.
