How did Victor feel about his creation-and why didn't he hunt down the creature?

He is appalled, disgusted, and frightened of the creature he has made. He doesn't hunt him down because he wants to distance himself from his own creation, almost like he wants to forget that he had anything to do with the monster or his actions.
