What does water symbolize and what are some examples directly from the book?
Water is literally a life giving substance. There cannot be life without water so it is in many forms throughout the novel (liquid, ice, snow). Figuratively water brings life to Frankenstein whether he is traveling on it or drinking it. It brings him life and inspires him to be close to nature.
