Elizabeth was Victor's bride and love of his life. Elizabeth is presented as being angelically good and incomparably beauty: she represents ideal womanhood and its promises of love and comfort. She has a calming healing effect on Victor. When the creature kills her, Victor becomes totally unhinged.
