The Monster wants to have a family such as the loving one Victor and the deLaceys have; he actually, little by little takes Victor's family away from him. In relation to Nature, both find answers in some of Nature's happenings (Victor first finds his curiosity about the nature of life aroused during an electrical storm), but the Monster does not have much protection from Nature the way Victor does, although by the end, Victor suffers much more at the hand of the Arctic cold than does the Monster.
