So, in the book his name is Victor Frankenstein. As for compassion, I'd go with the monster. Victor basically abandons his creation, leaving it in the wilds to fend for itself. The creature is constantly berated, humiliated and scorned by people. If I were the monster, I' might want some payback as well.
