Do you agree with Victor's own evaluation of his progress (chapter 2)

"When I look back, it seems to me as if this almost miraculous change of inclination and will was the immediate suggestion of the guardian angel of my life-- the last effort made by the spirit of preservation to avert the storm that was even then hanging in the stars and ready to envelop me."

Victor's assessment of his study and progress was most accurate. His interests, and later obsession, were very apparent at this stage. He could have chosen to heed his father's warnings or pursue another course.... and in hindsight, he can see that his choice foreshadowed his ruin.
