should we follow Bacon as a moralist?

Just because someone has lived a less than perfect life does not mean that his words can have a positive effect on us. His essays often give us good advice; if the advice were followed, we would lead good lives. We need not look to him as a role model; rather we should look at his work as a guide by which we could live.

so it means to follow a person who couldnt follow his own words. to consider any man a moralist every one will look his way of living. will we follow a person who is lieing in front of us and then advices not to lie beause its moraly not good...?
