The "odd couple" of the revolution was Thomas Jefferson and John Adams. Both hadvery different tactics and were unlikely friends. Before Washington's presidency, theycollaborated to solve multiple political issues. This "great collaboration" soon turned intothe "great competition" because the two intimate friends soon found themselves runningfor the presidency against each other.
