Can/how does the media affect domestic, and world events?

The media gives information and information is power. The general public in this era tended to believed news at face value: they believe that propaganda and news as the same thing. The narrative seen in the media could dictate events. Unfortunately this type of manipulation is ever more present in our times of "fake news".
