I think the meeting is to visit a wealthy family. The events described in Chapter 7 occur on the same day as Chapter 6. The Ogilvie family is a somewhat comically self-important society family in Philadelphia. Although Mrs. Cook finds the family impressive and socially important, Mattie sees through the convention and realizes the family's children are simply rude and selfish. All of the Ogilvie family members are minor characters in the novel.
