What happens to Matilda? Where is she taken and how is she cared for? What do Matilda and Grandfather decide to do once she has recovered?

Mattie contracts yellow fever. She is taken to Bush Hill Hospital in Philadelphia and cared for by a volunteer named Mrs. Flagg. The French doctors, experienced in dealing with yellow fever, keep her cool and calm, and give her as much liquid as she can tolerate. When Mattie recovers, she decides that she and her grandfather will return to the coffe house.
