Why does Rose believe Troy never made it to the major leagues in baseball?

I don't think that Rose is convinced that Troy's problem for getting into the major leagues was only a question of race. She questions Troy's deep-seated anger and attitude to people, especially white men, in authority. She also questions Troy’s work ethic.
