    Creative Writing

    Objective:

    Student will demonstrate how point of view and perspective shapes the content and style of a text.

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.11-12.6, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.11-12.3, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.11-12.3

    Structure:

    This creative writing activity will allow students the opportunity to explore perspectives other than Duke's.

    Asks students to each pick a secondary character in the book (i.e. the hitchhiker, the hotel clerk, Lacerda, the highway patrol cop, etc.). Give them 20 minutes to rewrite a scene described by Duke from the perspective of their chosen character. For example, how does the press credentials...
